Most
scientists now have enough information to know what kind of dinosaur made
the mysterious eubrontes tracks.
Let's review
what we have so far.
- The animal
that created the track was bipedal, walked on two feet.
- The animal
that created the tracks had three toes.
- If we compare
tracks from animals that are alive today with the mysterious track, the
closest match is a bird track.
- After further
investigation, scientists agree that the animal that most likely could
have made the track was a bipedal, three toed dinosaur.
- After using
radiometric dating scientists now know that the dinosaur that made the tracks
lived between 200 and 350 million years ago.
- After comparing
all of the information above with found fossils most scientists believe
the dinosaur that created the Eubrontes track was a Dilophosaurus.

Special
Note!
This is a small example of how scientists determine what kind
of dinosaur created the mysterious Eubrontes tracks. Scientists
actually spent years looking at many more dinosaurs than the
six used to compare to the Eubrontes track in this Web site.
During the 1970's for example, scientists thought the Eubrontes
tracks were made by a Megalosaurus. It wasn't until after the
scientists determined the age of the rock, combined with careful
observations of all the dinosaurs fossils found during the Triassic
period, did they conclude that the most likely dinosaur that
created the Eubrontes' track was a Dilophosaurus. |

But scientists
didn't stop here. They had other questions and they believed the tracks
and the skeleton could help answer them.
